Antiquities, antiques, things of old, things with patina, all describe in some fashion items humanity has valued for centuries. Some of us value the old more than the new and certainly I would have to count myself amongst them. From early on, even as a teen growing up, I cared more for items discarded by others. I appreciate the perfection of design we inherited from the 17th and 18th Century, together with quality of workmanship hardly equaled after. The love and appreciation for perfection has over time developed into a expertise in the field of antique furniture. This specialized knowledge benefits design clients when shopping and purchasing antique pieces. I have provided consulting services for a variety of firms amongst them a architectural firm in charge of restoration of the San Francisco Sheraton Palace Hotel, as well as the noted collector, Ann Getty. My interior designs are reflective of my love for beautiful and rare antiques, the love of books, but also the fun of restoring a late 19th Century good reproduction to it's former glory, or in some cases even better, by re-styling it. Re-interpreting existing pieces from a clients store room can be very rewarding when the client no longer recognizes his or her own pieces after they have been skillfully transformed to be useful as well as appreciated again.

My own collection of antiques for sale speak of a cumulation of loves, for which the time has come to be appreciated by someone other than myself. My knowledge and critical eye is reflected in a honest description and states dates and other descriptions as honestly as possible. I always say to clients- " if a museum can be fooled, so can I". Knowing that every museum has a basement filled with things that are not " to the manor born" so to speak, should provide some comfort.
